曾宏波為加拿大阿爾伯塔大學(xué)化學(xué)工程和材料工程系終身教授、加拿大皇家科學(xué)院院士、加拿大工程院院士、國(guó)家講席教授、分子力和界面科學(xué)首席專家。獲清華大學(xué)工學(xué)學(xué)士和碩士學(xué)位,美國(guó)加州大學(xué)圣芭芭拉分校博士學(xué)位。目前研究方向主要包括膠體與界面科學(xué)、高分子材料、分子和納米力學(xué)、以及各種工程過程的界面現(xiàn)象等。已在高水平SCI期刊發(fā)表論文~500篇,撰寫和主編專著一部。獲加拿大石油青年創(chuàng)新獎(jiǎng),加拿大化學(xué)和化工學(xué)會(huì)創(chuàng)新獎(jiǎng),阿爾伯塔大學(xué)工程研究?jī)?yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)、工程本科教學(xué)優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)、工程研究生教學(xué)優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)和阿爾伯塔大學(xué)杰出導(dǎo)師獎(jiǎng),國(guó)際杰出青年化學(xué)工程師獎(jiǎng), 加拿大自然科學(xué)與工程研究理事會(huì)Steacie獎(jiǎng)(國(guó)家科技最高獎(jiǎng)之一), Killam教授獎(jiǎng), 范德華(van der Waals)獎(jiǎng)等?,F(xiàn)兼任Advances in Colloid and Interface Science 主編, Science China Materials, Friction, Petroleum Science和Supramolecular Materials等期刊副主編。

Intermolecular and surface interaction characteristics determine the physiochemical properties and functionalities of materials in different applications. Quantitative characterization of the intermolecular and surface interaction mechanisms of soft materials (e.g., surfactants, polymers, biopolymers) and engineering systems (e.g., stabilization/destabilization of water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsions, oil/water separation, bubble flotation, removal of pollutants and fine solids from wastewater) has attracted much research interest over the past decades. In this talk, I will discuss the development of research field on intermolecular and surface forces. The basics of intermolecular and surface forces and the commonly used nanomechanical techniques will be also briefly introduced. The recent progress on how we applied these advanced nanomechanical techniques for quantifying intermolecular and surface interactions of different materials, chemical and environmental engineering systems (e.g., oil production, wastewater treatment), as well as for developing new functional materials, will be presented.
